Ransome's 'A Little Sugar in My Bowl' Opens at Curtiss Jacobs Gallery

Curtiss Jacobs Gallery is set to open 'A Little Sugar in My Bowl', a solo exhibition of works by artist Ransome, on Sunday, September 13. The exhibition draws from Ransome's African American family history, tracing his lineage from Southern sharecroppers through the Great Migration. Rather than focusing solely on struggle, Ransome's paintings celebrate the love, beauty, dignity, style, humor, aspiration, intimacy, memory, and joy that Black families have created and preserved. The works depict children running and dancing under the watchful eyes of ancestors, women commanding space with presence, and scenes of families, lovers, and workers. The exhibition is part of a larger narrative of Black America, told through the personal lens of one family's story.
