Ragnar Kjartansson's first children's exhibition opens at NGV

The National Gallery of Victoria (NGV) is hosting the global debut of Children’s Play: Ragnar Kjartansson, marking the Icelandic artist's inaugural exhibition tailored for a younger audience. Drawing inspiration from the lavish festivities of the Rococo period that transitioned into contemporary 'dinner and a show' theatre, Kjartansson encourages participants of all ages to assemble their own theatrical experiences. This exhibition includes intricate stage designs, interactive activities, props, and costumes, enabling children to dress up, engage in play, perform, or create their own scenes. Additionally, it aligns with NGV's exhibition Ragnar Kjartansson: Mercy, featuring eight new and recent video pieces that blend storytelling, performance, and music, influenced by film, literature, and pop culture.
