Pulp Galerie in Paris Hosts Retrospective of Gaetano Pesce's 1990s Office Design

Pulp Galerie in Paris is presenting an exhibition titled 'Gaetano Pesce, The CHIAT\DAY New York Project,' focusing on the Italian designer's innovative office interiors from the mid-1990s. The show, running from March 26 to May 30, 2026, at the gallery's new location in the 6th arrondissement, assembles rare furniture and architectural elements originally created for the CHIAT\DAY advertising agency in New York. Commissioned by Jay Chiat in 1994, the project envisioned a flexible workplace without assigned desks, blending architecture and furniture into a dynamic environment that encouraged movement and collaboration during the early digital era. Key pieces on display include desks, chairs, and doors made from translucent resin, a material signature of Pesce's work, which features swirling colors and irregular surfaces. Notable items are the Waffle Table with a circular resin top and the Highway door depicting miniature roadways. The original office, located on the 38th floor of a Financial District tower, was dismantled in the late 1990s, making this exhibition a rare opportunity to view physical remnants of the short-lived project. The installation reconstructs fragments of the interior, highlighting how Pesce's design merged functional components with expressive forms to reflect a changing workplace culture.
