Prado's 40th Annual Lecture Series: 19 Works, 19 Perspectives

The Fundación Amigos del Museo del Prado launches the 40th edition of its annual lecture series, Francisco Calvo Serraller, titled "Celebrar el Prado. Diecinueve obras, diecinueve miradas." Nineteen speakers—including museum directors, curators, academics, artists, writers, and musicians—each select a single work from the Prado's collection to discuss. The series runs from October 6, 2026 to March 9, 2027, with sessions every Tuesday at 18:30 in the museum's Auditorio (Puerta de Jerónimos). Highlights include Miguel Falomir on Parmigianino's "Pedro María Rossi, conde de San Segundo," Guillermo Solana on Titian's "The Bacchanal of the Andrians," Shirin Salehi on Goya's "Dog Half-Submerged," and Miguel Zugaza on "Las Meninas" as the museum's emblem. The program also features talks on works by Rubens, Bruegel, Mantegna, Velázquez, Fra Angelico, Botticelli, Sorolla, and Zurbarán.
