Prado Museum posts €19.5M surplus in 2025 with record revenue

On July 8, 2026, the Royal Board of Trustees approved the Museo Nacional del Prado's budget surplus for 2025, which amounted to €19.5 million. The museum's total revenue was €84.8 million, with self-generated income accounting for €39.8 million, resulting in a self-financing rate of 61%. The primary source of earned revenue was ticket sales, totaling €26.3 million, followed by sponsorships at €3.6 million and Prado Difusión at €3.4 million. Public funding approached €45 million, which included resources for the Salón de Reinos initiative. Currently, the museum's treasury surplus is €101 million, and Javier Solana holds the position of president of the Royal Board of Trustees.
