Porro's Milan Design Week 2026 installation reimagines beauty through industrial process

architecture-design · 2026-04-10

During Milan Design Week 2026, the Italian design brand Porro presented an installation titled Reimagining Beauty at its showroom, conceived by Piero Lissoni. The display featured furniture pieces in black and white arranged on a 15-meter glass-covered podium, appearing as if in transit between factory and final object. Simultaneously, at the Salone del Mobile.Milano, Porro showcased a contrasting space also designed by Lissoni with styling by Greta Cevenini, emphasizing silence and contemplation under a sloped ceiling. This marks Porro's continued evolution post-centenary, maintaining a three-decade collaboration with Lissoni while introducing new directions through partnerships with Nao Tamura, Dordoni Studio, and the debut of Yabu Pushelberg. The installations explore design as an open system where technology and craftsmanship integrate into contemporary living. Glocal Design Magazine's 88th edition, which focuses on sustainability redefining architectural practice, covered the event, highlighting how climate, territory, materials, and social responsibility are integral to design processes.
