Porous Kinship at Artopia Gallery explores permeable boundaries between body and world through five artists

Artopia Gallery in Milan presents Porous Kinship, a collective exhibition curated by Maddalena Iodice featuring works by Kesewa Aboah, Alberte Agerskov, Aléa Work, Dimitra Charamandas, and Diana Policarpo. Running from March 19 to May 8, 2026, the show employs painting, sculpture, and video to question the relationship between the body and its surroundings. Iodice's curatorial approach draws from animistic perspectives and thinkers like Manuel De Landa, Gregory Bateson, and Karen Barad, emphasizing distributed consciousness and material relationality. Kesewa Aboah's July, series (N. 1–4), 2026 involves direct skin-to-metal contact creating bodily imprints, while Aléa Work's Mycelial Pattern N.7, 2026 features fungal intervention on textiles. Alberte Agerskov's MP Mutual Pressure, 2026 explores transformative encounters between water and marble, and Dimitra Charamandas treats geology as language in paintings like Terraces, Outfields (Nadia), 2025. Diana Policarpo's video When the Sea Swallows, 2022 gives voice to Aea island in the Selvagens archipelago. The exhibition positions Artopia as an active interlocutor rather than mere display space, supporting emerging artists through geographic and cultural exchanges.
