Polish Jazz Quartet Kosmonauci Releases Second Album 'Brudna-Bielizna'

Kosmonauci, a Polish jazz quartet, has unveiled their second album titled 'Brudna-Bielizna,' which translates to 'dirty underwear' in German. The group, consisting of Miłosz Pieczonka, Jan Pieniążek, Bartłomiej Lucjan, and Tymon Kosma, blends jazz with hip-hop, drum & bass, and breakbeats, structured around drums, saxophone, bass, and vibraphon. Their debut album 'Sorry, nie tu' was released in 2024, with its vinyl edition selling out before its official launch. Following that success, the quartet toured across Europe and performed at various festivals. For their artistic philosophy, Kosmonauci cite their colleague Sensei Dżakba, who compares the need for Polish jazz in music to the debate over philosophy's role in science, concluding with 'keine Ahnung' (no idea). The new album features experimental tracks like 'Dla Zuzy' with polyrhythms and 'SIEKA' with breakbeat-inspired drumming, defying conventional jazz norms. Despite—or because of—their unconventional sound, the band describes themselves as a boyband, emphasizing their playful approach to genre boundaries.
