At Heritage Auctions' Trading Card Games and Manga Signature Auction held on June 26–27, a complete PSA Gem Mint 10 Pokémon First Edition Base Set fetched an impressive $1,218,750, establishing a new benchmark for public sales of such sets. The auction itself amassed a total of $7,894,456, exceeding the prior record of $7,620,617 from March. Jesus Garcia, Managing Director of Heritage Auctions Trading Card Games, remarked that piecing together any complete set of the 1999 First Edition Base Set is a significant feat due to the scarcity of the cards, and achieving all 102 cards in PSA Gem Mint 10 condition is remarkable, demanding years of dedication, resources, and patience.
