Plutarco Designs MYO Restaurant in Madrid with Illuminated Sunset Feature and Green Oak Bar

Plutarco has completed an interior design project for MYO restaurant in Madrid, featuring a distinctive green-stained oak bar and an artificial perpetual sunset installation. The restaurant occupies a space with a classic stone facade and modern red signage. The central bar element is elevated on oak supports and finished in a deep green hue that references nori seaweed, complementing the Japanese culinary theme. A custom lighting installation using retro-illuminated fabrics in amber and ochre tones creates a continuous sunset effect, casting warm light throughout the industrial interior. This illumination softens the raw architectural elements and reflects off stainless steel surfaces. Additional design details include a brushed metal hand-shaped tieback for curtains, exposed technical installations painted in dark green, and integrated spotlights that highlight dishes served at the bar. The bathroom features magenta lighting and metallic textures. The design balances industrial elements like exposed pipes with refined woodwork, contributing to Madrid's evolving hospitality landscape. This project reflects a broader trend toward narrative-driven restaurant interiors in the city, contrasting with other local venues like Taberna Convento, Superchulo Canalejas, and Barcelona's Relleno by Isern Serra.
