PIETRO Gallery in Bologna Blends 18th-Century Frescoes with Contemporary White Cube Space

PIETRO, a contemporary art gallery in Bologna, Italy, opened in May 2023 in Palazzo Tanari on Via Galliera. Founded by architect Simone Gheduzzi, the gallery occupies three distinct spaces: a square hall with late-18th-century frescoed ceilings depicting Italian garden motifs, a preserved family chapel, and a white, conical-shaped room. The venue serves as a laboratory for ideas where art, architecture, and cultural reflection intersect. Since its inception, PIETRO has hosted exhibitions including 'Tears from the Void' (2023) by the collective Gradiente, 'Vola' (2023) featuring Roberto Rizzoli, and 'Still Life. The Studio of Giorgio Morandi' (2024) during ART CITY Bologna. In 2025, it presented 'Afterimage' by Jacopo Mazzonelli and 'questo silenzio intorno' with Domenico Grenci and Eugenia Del Bue. Currently, it is showing 'Permanent Loss of Signal,' a solo exhibition by Valerio D’Angelo curated by Niccolò Giacomazzi, on view until March 15, 2026. The gallery fosters dialogue with Bologna's art scene through collaborations and international projects.
