Piero Gilardi's 'Sea with Seagull' Acquired by Castello di Rivoli Museum with Supporting Exhibition
The Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea has added Piero Gilardi's 1967 polyurethane foam work 'Mare con gabbiano' (Sea with Seagull) to its permanent collection. As part of an enhancement initiative, additional works spanning Gilardi's career from the 1960s to 2000s are displayed through a generous loan from the Fondazione Centro Studi Piero Gilardi. The exhibition traces Gilardi's artistic evolution from early technological visions to his Nature Carpets series, his role in organizing significant Turin exhibitions like Arte Abitale with Michelangelo Pistoletto, and his later political activism and founding of Turin's PAV Parco Arte Vivente in 2008. This acquisition project receives support from the Italian Ministry of Culture's contemporary art funding program.
