Photomatica Opens Largest Photo Booth Museum in Houston

In early June 2026, Photomatica, a company specializing in restoring photo booths and based in San Francisco, inaugurated its third museum in the U.S., located in Houston. This new site is the largest yet, showcasing seven operational photo booths, including five analog models. Among the analog offerings are a rare full-color booth, a wide-format Auto-Photo Model 14 from the 1960s, an Auto-Photo Model 11 from the 1950s, and two Photo-Me Models from the 1980s. Additionally, two digital booths provide traditional three-shot strips and single prints, with digital scans available. The museum, situated at 2103 Lyons Avenue next to Meow Wolf Houston, operates from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday–Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday–Saturday. This opening follows the March installation of an analog booth at FLATS, a community darkroom in Houston, where a Photo-Me Model 21 from the 1980s is available for $7 per four-frame strip. Jessi Bowman, FLATS' founder, highlighted the unique qualities of analog booths, which create distinctive silver gelatin prints through a chemical process.
