Philippe Starck Designs Coastal Village Development in Vietnam's Ho Tram Region

Philippe Starck has unveiled plans for Nhà Estate, his inaugural residential project in Vietnam. The development will consist of 38 private villas situated on a peninsula in Ho Tram, positioned between the Ray River and the ocean. The masterplan adopts a village-like layout rather than a rigid grid, with gently winding paths connecting clusters of homes and shared communal spaces interspersed throughout. This approach aims to preserve the natural flow of vegetation, air, and light across the site. Each villa features a dual architectural concept: a solid stone base anchors the structure to the earth, while the upper levels utilize glass and slender frames to create open, airy interiors oriented toward water views. The design emphasizes a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor living through terraces and shaded areas. Starck describes the project's philosophy as creating an environment intended to stimulate intelligence and creativity, positioning architecture as an active element in daily life. The development includes limited-density housing to maintain a direct connection with the surrounding landscape and incorporates communal facilities like a beach club and dining areas. Located a few hours from Ho Chi Minh City, the project seeks to offer a sense of retreat without isolation.
