Pharrell Williams' Joopiter Auctions Museum-Grade Triceratops Skull Sofia

Pharrell Williams' online auction platform Joopiter is selling a juvenile Triceratops skull named Sofia, estimated at $600,000 to $800,000, as part of its 'Still Here: An Auction Across Space and Time' sale closing July 1. The skull, measuring nearly seven feet, was discovered five years ago in Marmarth, South Dakota, within the Hell Creek Formation by an unnamed paleontologist under a legal fossil lease agreement. Excavated by Dinosaurs of America, Sofia is 60% complete, placing it in the top ten percent of specimens, with intact nose and brow horns and numerous teeth. It is classified as museum-grade with a yellow hue from iron-rich minerals. The fossil is unpublished, unstudied, and comes with full title and IP rights. Its stand was designed by Zoltan Foltay, who also mounted the most expensive dinosaur ever sold. The auction includes 24 natural history lots, such as meteorites from the Moon and Mars, a Watermelon Quartz combo, and a 1787 Cassini engraving. Joopiter's first dinosaur auction grossed $5.5 million earlier this year.
