Phaidon Publishes First Book on Glenn and Amanda Fuhrman's Private Collection

Phaidon has unveiled 'Collecting Contemporaries: The Fuhrman Collection,' a volume exceeding 300 pages that showcases the Hamptons residence of Glenn and Amanda Fuhrman to the public for the first time. Glenn Fuhrman, who founded the FLAG Art Foundation, serves on the MoMA board, and is the president of Tate's American branch, began his collection at 25 while working at Goldman Sachs. Featured artists include Jeff Koons, Simone Leigh, Cecily Brown, and Roy Lichtenstein. A significant Lichtenstein artwork is on long-term loan to the Parrish Art Museum due to a 20-foot height restriction. The Fuhrmans also provide a free Wi-Fi network across 95 blocks in Harlem and award the FLAG Award to New York public school teachers. Now over 60, Fuhrman has never sold any pieces but anticipates selling or donating in the future. The book originated from an unsolicited approach by Phaidon, reflecting the couple's commitment to fostering relationships with living artists. A collaboration between the FLAG Art Foundation and the Parrish Art Museum will yield three exhibitions annually through 2030, starting with 'Ellsworth Kelly: Eight Decades' (on display until July 19).
