Peter Blake's Studio Recreated in Immersive Exhibition at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery

Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery in West London will present "Peter Blake: In the Studio" from November 25, 2026, to April 4, 2027. The exhibition reconstructs the artist's working environment, offering an intimate view of his seven-decade career through paintings, collages, sculptures, and works on paper. Curated by Jake Twyford and Louise Shorr, the show includes a full-scale studio replica filled with personal memorabilia that shaped Blake's practice. His early Pop works from the 1960s and recent pieces reflect enduring fascinations with British and American popular culture. Blake gained prominence alongside David Hockney and through Ken Russell's BBC film "Pop Goes the Easel." His design for The Beatles' "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album cover, created with Jann Haworth, became a 20th-century icon. The exhibition connects Blake to West London locales like Chiswick and Hammersmith, referencing local cultural history from The Ealing Club to Ealing Studios. Several works engage with William Hogarth's art, displayed in rooms where Hogarth's "A Rake's Progress" once hung under Sir John Soane's ownership. Rebecca Lyons, Director of Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery, describes hosting Blake as an honor for a British art legend. The show positions Blake as a defining figure whose imagery resonates across generations.
