Personeper: A Three-Volume Series on Accessibility as a Structural Principle for Cultural Institutions

Nomos Edizioni has published 'Personeper. Verso istituzioni culturali accessibili', a three-volume series curated by Anna Chiara Cimoli and Domenico Sergi, in collaboration with the Scuola nazionale del patrimonio e delle attività culturali. The project originates from the national training plan on accessibility in cultural venues, developed by the Scuola with the Ministero della Cultura – Direzione generale Musei under the PNRR Cultura 4.0. The series blends theoretical research, field experiences, and design tools for professionals transforming museums, libraries, archives, and archaeological parks. Accessibility is framed as a structural principle involving architecture, language, relationships, story selection, audience representation, and decision-making power. The three volumes address political-social, linguistic, and spatial dimensions: 'Riconoscersi. Rappresentazione, partecipazione, giustizia sociale' edited by Simona Bodo examines cultural institutions' role in democratic society; 'Guardare, leggere, ascoltare. Scritture possibili' edited by Roberta Caddeo focuses on language as an accessibility infrastructure; 'Fare spazio. La costruzione collettiva dei luoghi' edited by Fabio Fornasari explores physical and relational spaces. Illustrations and conceptual maps by Giulia De Amicis accompany the texts, with detachable summary maps on each volume's dust jacket.
