Performing Lines Tas Marks 20 Years Championing Tasmanian Artists

Performing Lines Tas marks two decades of backing independent artists in Lutruwita/Tasmania, established through a partnership between the Tasmanian State Government and the Australia Council for the Arts. Sinsa Mansell, a senior producer of pakana heritage, highlighted the significance of this milestone coinciding with their annual sector day. An archival review uncovered the initial lease, while the Moonah Arts Centre gallery displayed a collection of artworks curated by Nicole Winspear from the past 20 years. Founder Annette Downs stressed the importance of elevating Tasmanian voices. Mansell co-directed the 2021 dance production BACK, making history as the first pakana woman to achieve this. In 2024, Simon Wellington took on the role of national CEO after a career in theatre. Performing Lines Tas became part of the NPAPF, ensuring eight years of funding continuity.
