People's, an invite-only salon from Manhattan's Greenwich Village owned by Margot Hauer-King and Emmet McDermott, launched its first international pop-up in London during the last week of Wimbledon. The venue was Nellie's Tavern, a cellar bar beneath Simpson's in the Strand—a historic restaurant owned by Hauer-King's father, restaurateur Jeremy King. The pop-up operated nightly, drawing a fashionable crowd that included Stanley Tucci, Dylan Mulvaney, and Sam Lansky. Guests danced on banquettes to British pop music, while caviar, mini burgers, Moët & Chandon from a champagne tower, and Belvedere martinis were served. The most coveted item was a red People's London hat, signaling membership in this transient club. The experiment was deemed a roaring success by attendees.
