Pedevilla Architects has finalized the Education Centre Kössen in Austria, which is scheduled to open in 2025 following a competition that commenced in late 2022. This facility caters to multiple generations, incorporating a primary school, kindergarten, nursery, and after-school care, effectively connecting Kössen's historic center with adjacent neighborhoods. The exterior showcases dark vertical wood cladding complemented by bright yellow highlights, inspired by Tyrolean farmhouse aesthetics. Inside, the design emphasizes sensory experiences, featuring silver fir flooring, lime plaster walls, and a cross-stitch pattern for navigation. The layout consists of a three-story school, a two-story kindergarten, and a single-story after-school care, all centered around a communal forecourt. User workshops guided the design, reflecting current European educational architecture trends.
