Pax newsletter returns July 10 with focus on resilience and film tourism

The next issue of Pax, the biweekly newsletter from Artribune dedicated to cultural tourism, will be released on Friday, July 10. The issue continues its investigation into the rhetoric of resilience, warning that the term, increasingly used to describe how marginalized areas respond to depopulation, risks shifting attention from structural causes to mere adaptive capacity. The newsletter also features a new installment of the series "What is Cultural Tourism?" with an interview of filmmaker Francesco Lopez, who discusses the trend of film tourism (cineturismo), analyzing both its opportunities and pitfalls. Lopez notes that cinema teaches how to look at and narrate a territory as it is, often preserving testimonies of past contexts that no longer exist. However, chasing locations made famous by films and TV series can have negative side effects on local tourism, citing the Italian case of Lago di Braies, overwhelmed after the success of the Rai series "Un passo dal cielo." The issue also explores small museums off the main tourist routes, focusing on artisanal traditions. The Carosello section offers travel suggestions for summer, including environmental art installations, ancient myths in the Mediterranean, Japanese landscapes, museum-neighborhood models, new trekking routes, cultural night events, and hospitality projects.
