Paul Le Quernec Designs Intercommunity Nursery on Former Military Site in Verdun-sur-Garonne

Architect Paul Le Quernec has designed an intercommunity nursery scheduled for completion in 2025. The project is located in Verdun-sur-Garonne, France, on a former military site characterized by an exceptionally open landscape where the urban fabric appears erased. The absence of contiguous built context allows for complete freedom in architectural placement and expression. The assigned plot is relatively restricted compared to the program requirements, leading to a rational approach guiding both the building's implantation and overall organization. The architectural project covers an area of 1,750 square meters. The design team includes Deborah Kempf, with Hadir Al Koshta serving as curator. Engineering and consulting services involve multiple firms: Solares Bauen for environmental sustainability, L&N for electricity, E3 Economie for construction calculations, and Ingemansson for acoustics.
