Patricia Ruiz-Healy Profiled in Glasstire's 25th Anniversary Series on Texas Art Stewards
In September 2026, Glasstire will commemorate its 25th anniversary with an exhibition titled "Stewards of the Scene: Texas Galleries & Collectors," featuring the work of San Antonio gallerist Patricia Ruiz-Healy. Author Maggie Adler underscores Ruiz-Healy's eclectic programming, which highlights both historical Latinx artists and emerging talents. Their friendship took root following a serendipitous encounter in Times Square and a visit to Ruiz-Healy's New York gallery, which she established in 2019. She opened her gallery in November 2006, motivated by her passion for contemporary Oaxacan art, drawing on her Master's in Art History and business background. Initially, her exhibitions were held by appointment in a guest house, focusing on overlooked artists and works on paper. Ruiz-Healy acknowledges San Antonio's robust support but identifies a lack of funding for acquisitions.
