Paris Auctions Aim for €227–319 Million During Art Basel Paris 2026
During Art Basel Paris, scheduled for 23–25 October 2026, Christie's, Sotheby’s, Artcurial, and Phillips are targeting auction revenues between €227 million and €319 million, an increase from last year's €192 million. This uptick indicates strong vendor confidence, aided by online catalogues that facilitate last-minute adjustments. The Paris auctions will take place after the Frieze-week sales in London, which are set for 14–18 October. From 2019 to 2025, auction totals for Christie's and Sotheby’s in Paris have more than doubled, now accounting for 75% of London’s figures. Christie's will present 478 lots valued at €107–154 million, including 62 pieces from the Paul Durand-Ruel collection, with Monet’s Bord des falaises à Pourville (1882) estimated at €11–15 million, while Sotheby’s will showcase Monet’s Iris (1924–1925) with an estimate of €22–30 million. Significant sales are also anticipated from Artcurial and Phillips.
