Palm Springs School of Social Research founded in Frankfurt's Bahnhofsviertel

A new institution, the Palm Springs School of Social Research, has been established in Frankfurt's Bahnhofsviertel district. Its founder, Catherine Liu, criticized the liberal middle class and called for a return of the left to social issues. The founding echoes the original Institut für Sozialforschung, which opened in Frankfurt on June 22, 1924, with a mission to understand why workers did not embrace socialism and to address the shortcomings of Marxist theory. Theodor W. Adorno and Max Horkheimer, at the height of their productivity, sought to connect capitalist economic conditions with their psychological effects—a task rarely attempted today. A century later, the institute primarily manages its legacy.
