Ortega y Gasset's Literary Criticism Collected in 'Espíritu de la letra'

Alianza Editorial will release 'Espíritu de la letra y otros ensayos' by José Ortega y Gasset on June 18, 2026. The volume gathers thirteen reviews originally published in the newspaper El Sol, along with essays on foreign authors, members of the Generation of '98 and '14, and texts on the book industry and librarianship. Previously issued by Revista de Occidente in 1927, this new edition belongs to the Bibliotecas de autor collection. The 360-page book will be available in paperback for €14.90 and as an eBook for €7.99. Ortega, a foundational thinker of Spanish modernity, used literary criticism as a vehicle for philosophical reflection, refining his ideas through newspaper columns from his youth.
