Ordovas to Show 2025 Valerie Beston Award Winner Matilde de Oliveira Roque

From September 1 to 5, 2026, the Ordovas gallery in London will host a solo exhibition showcasing the artwork of Matilde de Oliveira Roque, who has been honored with the 2025 Valerie Beston Artists' Trust Award. This exhibition celebrates the 20th anniversary of the award, established in 2006 in memory of Valerie Beston (1922-2005), a prominent figure in London's art scene who championed artists like Frank Auerbach, Francis Bacon, and Lucian Freud throughout her 50-year career. The trust, aimed at supporting emerging artists, partners with the Royal College of Art to grant an annual prize to a postgraduate student chosen from its degree show, which includes a year-long studio at SPACE, material funding, RCA mentorship, and a solo exhibition. De Oliveira Roque's upcoming show will present new works that emphasize the award's ongoing commitment to fostering new talent.
