OPEN Architecture's Shede Culture Museum Nears Completion in Chinese Garden Setting

OPEN Architecture's Shede Culture Museum has reached its structural completion in Shehong, China, with full construction anticipated by 2027. Situated within a distillery's East Garden along the Fu River, the museum occupies a previously unused peripheral site. The design centers on a 90-meter circular pond, incorporating three distinct structures that reference traditional Chinese garden principles. These buildings—designated as the Glass Box, Earth Box, and Bronze Box—utilize materials like rammed earth, glass, and bronze, connecting to local spirit production. The project integrates environmental systems and creates a visitor experience that bridges production facilities with public spaces.
