OmenaArt Foundation Pavilion at Malta Biennale 2026 Bridges Poland and Ghana Through Textile Art
At the Malta Biennale 2026, the OmenaArt Foundation presents a pavilion featuring the works of Polish artists Marta Nadolle and Eliza Proszczuk alongside Ghanaian artist Ernestina Mansa Doku. The exhibition delves into textile traditions that connect Poland and Ghana, set within the historic Birgu Old Armory. It draws on historical ties from the 1960s when Ghanaian students were educated in Poland. Proszczuk utilizes repurposed woolen blankets in her installation, while Doku's contributions include colonial chevron beads and African wax prints. Nadolle showcases textile structures made with the help of Ghanaian children. The pavilion, influenced by Ubuntu philosophy and the Polish School of Tapestry, has won The Maltese Falcon Award. The Biennale is scheduled from March 13 to May 31, 2026, across Valletta, Il-Birgu, and Gozo.
