British designer Oliver Spencer has introduced a new leather travel bag called the 'Weekender,' priced at £645 and available through his website. The bag was developed in partnership with Secret Trips, a print magazine Spencer co-founded with various writers, editors, and photographers who share a passion for global exploration. Spencer, who started his career selling second-hand clothing at London's Portobello Market, now operates multiple retail locations in London neighborhoods including Marylebone, Soho, Shoreditch, and Lamb's Conduit Street in Bloomsbury. His design approach frequently incorporates inspiration from international travel, with recent collections influenced by visits to Austrian ski resorts, Cuba, and Colombia. The Weekender bag is constructed from leather and designed to accommodate essentials for short trips up to 48 hours, with potential use as carry-on luggage. Its design draws from military holdalls and classic Gladstone doctor's bags, updated with contemporary styling. Spencer noted that the concept emerged from consulting the Secret Trips community about practical travel needs. The magazine itself focuses on unconventional destinations, featuring content such as horseback journeys in the Andes, nightlife explorations in Albania, and global treehouse accommodations.
