ODUPLO DESIGN Creates Custom Logotype for Brazilian Film Production Company 7MA Filmes

architecture-design · 2026-04-11

ODUPLO DESIGN developed a visual identity for the independent Brazilian film production company 7MA Filmes in 2022. The project was led by João Luz and Maykon André, who created a custom logotype that compresses the letters 7, M, and A into a single interlocking form. This geometric glyph functions as a visual stamp across all brand applications. The color palette employs black and cream to reference early cinema's bitonal origins, while a deep arterial red represents intentional light leaks. Physical materials include business cards, letterheads, and posters that fragment the typography across red and black backgrounds. A circular stamp reading "Produção Independente" anchors the identity in Brazilian independent cinema culture. The system maintains strict discipline with only three colors and a single typeface, ensuring versatility across both static and motion contexts. Applications range from street posters to press envelopes and tote bags, photographed against industrial textures like diamond-mesh steel fences. The identity avoids cinematic clichés while treating visual sensation as structural principle.
