Obamas open presidential museum with Springsteen, Bono, Wonder

The Obama Presidential Centre in Chicago opened with a star-studded dedication ceremony on Thursday. Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Christina Aguilera, and Bono performed at the invite-only event, which was live-streamed. Former presidents Joe Biden, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton attended, along with former first ladies Jill Biden, Laura Bush, and Hillary Rodham Clinton. Barack and Michelle Obama delivered remarks. The $850 million centre opens to the public on Juneteenth (June 19). US President Donald Trump, who called the project a "total disaster" in February, was not among the guests. Other attendees included California Governor Gavin Newsom, civil rights leaders Andrew Young and Al Sharpton, Oprah Winfrey, comedians David Letterman, Conan O'Brien, and Stephen Colbert, tennis legend Billie Jean King, and Chicago Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts. The weekend of events celebrates the museum's opening.
