Oakley Unveils Handcrafted Wrapped-Lens Prototype at Kiko Kostadinov FW26 Show

At Kiko Kostadinov's Menswear FW26 show during Paris Fashion Week, Oakley debuted a wrapped-lens prototype developed at Moonbase1, its high-security innovation lab in California. The prototype exists in five handcrafted lens colorways and features sharp diamond-scribe detailing drawn from artworks informing Kostadinov's collection. Oakley's Global Product Director Alex Ellinport described the collaboration as a natural collision of innovation and design vision. The prototype has no confirmed release date, emphasizing its role as research-in-progress rather than a finished product. This follows an earlier Kiko Kostadinov womenswear show in March that featured Moonbase1 output, including a 3D-printed prototype and reworked Oakley Ellipse designs by Laura and Deanna Fanning. Alongside the prototype, Oakley also presented its Terraforma performance model in seven exclusive colorways, using Prizm lens technology and flat base curve construction. The brand frames Moonbase1 as a facility to push beyond conventional production constraints, allowing handmade frames without typical tooling and volume assumptions.
