Nvidia Ships First H200 Chips to China Under New US Licensing Scheme

ai-technology · 2026-08-27

Nvidia has announced the initial delivery of H200 data-centre processors to China, marking the end of a prolonged ban under a new US licensing framework. Nonetheless, these sales contributed to less than 1 percent of the firm’s US$89 billion data-centre revenue for the second quarter, which concluded on July 26. The US chip leader projected its third-quarter revenue at US$108 billion, maintaining expectations of no data-centre computing revenue from China. Despite this limited impact, Nvidia expressed optimism regarding global demand, anticipating a revenue increase of approximately 70 percent in its 2028 financial year, which it described as supply constrained. CEO Jensen Huang noted that actual demand exceeds 70 percent and emphasized the need for additional capacity beyond what they currently possess.
