NSW Appoints Six Young Board Members to Major Cultural Institutions

In October 2025, a group of six Australians, aged between 18 and 28, was selected for three-year positions on the governance boards of major cultural institutions in New South Wales. This selection followed the passage of the Cultural Institutions Legislation Amendment Bill in June 2025. Nearly 1,000 individuals applied for these roles as part of the NSW Government's Creative Communities initiative, which was introduced in December 2023. The appointed members are Dylan Goh (Sydney Opera House Trust), Will Cook (Art Gallery of New South Wales Trust), Vivian Pham (Library Council of New South Wales), Melissa Applin (Australian Museum Trust), Elijah Ingram (Museums of History NSW), and Hamani Tanginoa (Powerhouse Museum). Goh and Cook highlighted the need to balance corporate responsibilities with artistic vision in the face of national challenges facing arts boards.
