Norwegian tanker hit by projectile off Oman amid US-Iran tensions

A Norwegian chemical tanker, the Stolt Magnesium, was struck by an unidentified projectile off the coast of Oman, causing an explosion and fire in the engine room. The incident occurred at approximately 12:40 am local time in the Arabian Sea, 40 nautical miles northeast of Qalhat, Oman. The shipping company Stolt Tankers reported the attack via MTI Network, stating the vessel suffered an explosion from an unidentified external device. The crew is safe and accounted for. The UK Maritime Trade Operations agency confirmed the tanker was hit on the starboard side engine room. The attack comes amid heightened US-Iran tensions in the region.
