Norma Editorial Releases Fourth Integral Volume Continuing Blake and Mortimer Comic Series

Norma Editorial has published 'Integral 4' of the Blake and Mortimer comic series, continuing the adventures of the iconic Belgian characters created by Edgar P. Jacobs. The volume contains three albums created by two separate creative teams following Jacobs's death in 1987. The first team consists of writer Jean Van Hamme and artist Ted Benoit, who contributed 'El caso Francis Blake' (published in 1996) and 'La extraña cita.' The second team includes writer Yves Sente and artist André Juillard, responsible for 'La maquinación Voronov.' The stories maintain the graphic and narrative identity established by Jacobs, blending elements of British detective fiction, espionage, science fiction, archaeology, and Cold War tension. Captain Francis Blake and Professor Philip Mortimer first appeared in 1946 in the prestigious Franco-Belgian comic magazine Tintin. The new volume features a dossier by Jorge García. The narratives draw inspiration from various sources: 'El caso Francis Blake' is influenced by John Buchan's spy novel 'The Thirty-Nine Steps,' later adapted by Alfred Hitchcock; 'La maquinación Voronov' explores Cold War divisions; and 'La extraña cita' connects to Jacobs's earlier work 'El secreto del Espadón' and involves a two-century-old corpse related to Mortimer. The revival demonstrates the enduring legacy of Jacobs's characters, which combine adventure, intrigue, and fantastical elements.
