Nokia's new dumbphones feature a dedicated AI button

HMD has launched four retro Nokia 4G feature phones—the Nokia 200 4G, 210 4G, 215 4G 2nd Edition, and 235 4G 2nd Edition—each equipped with a large AI button at the center of the D-pad. The button activates a voice-controlled chatbot powered by Shenzhen-based Sikey AI, enabling tasks like calls, alarms, and queries. AI access is free for 180 days, then costs about £3/year in the EU or £2.25/year elsewhere, activated via a separate smartphone. The phones retain classic features: T9 keyboard, 3.5mm jack, microSD, FM radio (except one model), and a front camera for video calls via Xpress chat. Critics argue the AI button undermines the digital-detox purpose of dumbphones. HMD targets underserved demographics like the elderly and those in areas with poor connectivity.
