market-auction · 2026-10-02

On Thursday, Propstore conducted its Music Live Auction from Hertfordshire, where a signed acoustic guitar that Noel Gallagher played during Oasis's 1996 MTV Unplugged performance sold for £226,800, marking the highest auction price for an Oasis acoustic guitar, according to the auction house. Equally, a black and gold military-style jacket, worn by Michael Jackson during his Dangerous and HIStory eras and part of The Omer Bhatti Collection, fetched the same amount. A Yamaha C3 Grand Piano, used by Freddie Mercury for composing "Crazy Little Thing Called Love," went for £81,900, falling short of the £200,000 estimate. However, Mercury's notebook with handwritten lyrics from the Mr. Bad Guy sessions reached £277,200. Mark Hochman, a music specialist, hailed the Oasis sale as remarkable, reflecting fans' enduring bond with the band. Overall, the auction amassed £2.5m from rare instruments, memorabilia, and more, including items from German producer Reinhold Mack, who collaborated with Queen in the 1980s. Mercury passed away at 45.
