Nobel economist Simon Johnson to chair UK's AI Economics Institute

Simon Johnson, who serves as a professor at MIT and previously held the position of chief economist at the IMF, has been awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Economics for his contributions to the study of institutions and their impact on prosperity. On June 8, he was named the chair of the newly established AI Economics Institute by the British government. During an interview at the UBS Asian Investment Conference in Hong Kong, Johnson addressed the growing anti-China and anti-science sentiments in the United States, along with the potential dangers associated with artificial intelligence.
