Nikita Kadan's 'A New Integrity' exhibition examines limb loss in Ukraine war via prostheses and veteran stories.

On 11 April, Pavilion 13 in Kyiv will unveil Nikita Kadan's exhibition titled 'A New Integrity.' The display features moving prostheses that hang in mid-air, accompanied by a soundscape created by Clemens Poole, which includes recorded testimonies from Ukrainian veterans, narrated by actress Anastasiia Seheda. The Superhumans Foundation facilitated interviews conducted by sociologist Sofia Lavreniuk, ensuring veterans' identities remain confidential. Kadan aims to highlight the understanding of Ukraine's losses without portraying bodies directly, allowing veterans to describe their experiences. Developed over a year amidst ongoing Russian attacks, this exhibition was commissioned by RIBBON International and showcases works from both Ukrainian artists and German Modernists. Since February 2022, casualty estimates indicate approximately 1.2 million Russian and 500,000-600,000 Ukrainian losses. Pavilion 13 itself is a renovated brutalist structure from 1967.
