Nicolas Cage Declines Amazon AI Waiver for Spider-Noir, Criticizes Studio at New York Comic Con

At the New York Comic Con on Saturday, Nicolas Cage made it clear that he won’t be signing an AI waiver for the upcoming Prime Video series Spider-Noir. The 62-year-old actor voiced his disapproval of using AI in acting. He raised concerns about Amazon's hefty $50 billion investment in OpenAI, pondering what this means for actors as technology advances. Cage mentioned, "I'm trying to navigate film performance in this rapidly changing world," but admitted he lacks clear answers. He hinted that he might not work with that studio again. The discussion about AI in Hollywood is ongoing, with SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America pushing for protections. In 2023, Keanu Reeves shared that his contracts prevent altering his performances digitally, calling deepfakes unsettling. Cage praised director Kane Parsons for rejecting AI in Backrooms, warning of its dangers.
