NGV Triennial 2026 features Jenny Holzer's Trump tweets, penguin balloons, and human chess
The 2026 Triennial at the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne is set to commence on 13 December 2026 and will continue until 11 April 2027, showcasing nearly 100 artists from 35 nations in a complimentary exhibition. Featured works include Jenny Holzer's 2022 LED piece WTF, Avery Singer's Deepfake Stan, and a photography installation by Wolfgang Tillmans, along with graphic art from Christine Sun Kim. Louise Paramor exhibits a life-sized chess set, while Kresiah Mukwazhi presents an eight-metre textile. Maria Madeira's performance, Kiss and Don't Tell, and Ocean Vuong's photographs of his mother's nail salon will also be on display, alongside Benedikte Bjerre's debut of The Birds. Monumental contributions include works by Juan Ford, Pamela Rosenkranz, Zanele Muholi, and Najla El Zein, with Ayoung Kim's Delivery Dancer's Arc: Inverse reflecting Seoul's gig economy.
