Newcity's April 2026 Issue Highlights Expo Chicago Shift and Breakout Artists Exhibition

The April 2026 edition of Newcity magazine focuses on Chicago's art scene amid unseasonably cold weather. The publication notes that Expo Chicago, the city's major art fair, has shifted its schedule from late April to earlier in the month this year. This marks a transition period following Tony Karman's departure from leadership. Newcity has produced an unofficial guide to the fair, now considered an annual tradition. The issue also announces the 2026 Breakout Artists list, which spotlights emerging talent. Artist Leasho Johnson, recognized as a Breakout Artist in 2024, created the cover artwork titled "Perplexity of the consumed (Anansi #38)" using mixed media on paper mounted on canvas.
