New York's Canyon to open in autumn 2026 as a dedicated moving-image institution amid conservation challenges.
This autumn, a new venue dedicated to moving image, sound, and performance art, known as Canyon, will debut at 200 Broome Street in Manhattan, occupying 40,000 square feet of renovated office space. Established by Robert Rosenkranz, the institution will not initially display his collection but aspires to function as a public museum with a quicker exhibition cycle of 18 to 24 months. Emphasizing the significance of digital art are Director Joe Thompson and Vice President Cass Fino-Radin. Additionally, the Canyon Media Arts Conservation Center aims to promote community engagement and knowledge sharing. Meanwhile, the Julia Stoschek Foundation recently featured works by Marina Abramović and Douglas Gordon in Los Angeles. In spring 2025, collectors Isabelle and Jean-Conrad Lemaître donated 170 artworks to the Musée d'Art Contemporain in Lyon.
