New Museum reveals OMA-designed expansion with new commissions ahead of March reopening

The New Museum presented its recently completed 60,000-square-foot addition to journalists, featuring significant works by Tschabalala Self and Klára Hosnedlová. Designed by OMA/Shohei Shigematsu and Rem Koolhaas with Cooper Robertson as executive architect, the project took a decade to finish and required a two-year closure. This expansion doubles the institution's exhibition areas. The museum will welcome visitors starting March 21st. Hosnedlová's large-scale mixed-media piece occupies the atrium stairwell, while Self's aluminum sculpture of two figures is mounted on the exterior. An upcoming Sarah Lucas installation and the inaugural show 'New Humans: Memories of the F' are also planned.
