New Monograph Explores Rick Mather's Architectural Legacy
A new publication titled *Rick Mather: The Complete Works* by architectural critic Kester Rattenbury delves into the influential career of American architect Rick Mather, who lived from 1937 to 2013. After relocating from Portland to the UK in 1963, Mather worked with Lyons Israel Ellis before establishing his own firm in 1973. Notable accomplishments include the glass courtyards at the Wallace Collection and the National Maritime Museum, along with a new quadrangle for Dulwich Picture Gallery, completed around 1999-2000. The £60 book features striking illustrations, capturing the essence of British architecture during the late 20th century, although Mather's contributions remain largely overlooked.
