New Independent Art Foundation Established to Support Krefeld Museums

institutional · 2026-04-02

A new non-profit art foundation called Kunststiftung an den Kunstmuseen Krefeld has been formally established and is now operational. The foundation was initiated by Katia Baudin, director of the Kunstmuseen Krefeld, and received support from the City of Krefeld, including Mayor Frank Meyer. Based in Krefeld, this legally recognized independent organization aims to provide sustainable backing for art, culture, and research activities at the Kunstmuseen Krefeld. One of its main goals is to enhance the museum's collection through acquisitions. The foundation is expected to help reinforce the institution's role as a significant venue for cultural exchange and academic discussion. Similar initiatives exist at other German museums, such as the Kunststiftung at Museum Ludwig, which was founded in 2008.
