New Amsterdam History Center's 3D Digital Installation Returns to New York Historical Society

This spring, the New Amsterdam History Center (NAHC) will bring back its upgraded Mapping Early New York 3D digital exhibit at The New York Historical Society. This installation is part of the upcoming exhibition Old Masters, New Amsterdam, which will run from May 1 to August 30, 2026. The show is curated by Russell Shorto, who leads the New Amsterdam Project, and Arthur K. Wheelock Jr., a Senior Advisor at The Leiden Collection. It features Dutch masterpieces alongside a 3D digital vision of what New York City could look like. The exhibition highlights how the Dutch established New Amsterdam on Manhattan Island four centuries ago, with artists like Rembrandt, Hals, and Steen depicting life at that time. Visitors can enjoy a unique interactive experience combining art and digital innovation.
